So recently an edit was made with the inclusion of a video by a Wikia Staff member which seems to be fully licensed to be used here, but it was removed because there is no clear policy as to whether they should be allowed. Afaik, this was never fully discussed. Should there be an official Video policy on Narutopedia ? --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 19:51, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
- Asked by Shakhmoot to throw in my thoughts here ;) Talking strictly on Wikia's behalf, we are provided videos from official outlets, such as developers, which are all fully licensed to use where the associated communities prefer/permit. There are many wikis that utilize videos to enhance their pages, though there are usually policies in place pertaining to licensing/quality/etc.
- Videos can help explain content that might be better shown visually. They are also helpful SEO-wise, which is helpful for any site. In addition, they also make the page more visually appealing - compare reading a dictionary to a magazine, for instance. Raylan13 (talk) 20:09, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
Could a sysop kinda make a video policy or at least jump in to discuss this ? We can't allow videos to be posted here until we have one and Sarah Manley wishes to enable video posting here (see Forum:Video Tools) --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 20:28, September 10, 2013 (UTC)
