Good opinion on this

I think this is great I really do the colour and layout really suits does anyone else agree?-- Nature Icon Yin–YangJmootam1999Nature Icon Yin–Yang 15:26, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Opinion

I'm not too sure what the reason is for the change, an explanation of that would be great. It looks fine though, not too sure it's our "colour scheme" (the red). I like the "welcome to the wikia" and the "read more" for summaries- very nice. However, the contribute section where it gives you the option to create a new article needs to go, that's just an invitation for trolls, when we use forms to create most articles. Template for the answers and springtime wikia also need to be re-added. Along with that, I'd also prefer that the jutsu image be more inclusive, but that's just me.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:39, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

I'd make the colour scheme orange and take away the "create a new article" field as we'd get people creating Inappropriate articles, but overall I think you've done a good job Teppei Kiyoshi well done -- Nature Icon Yin–YangJmootam1999Nature Icon Yin–Yang 15:44, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your opinions guys! Should I use the current heading colors or try new ones? But I think the "create a new article" will be useful incase we miss something when a new chapter or episode is released. But ofcourse, it won't be THAT useful.. So alright, I'll take it off.. Oh, and btw should I add anything like the affiliates section and such?  Teppei  talk  15:54, 4/4/2013
We're not very flashy; the current colour scheme or any one that complements the background would be find I guess. The create a new article as I said people will come here see it and have a much easier time creating bad articles. We don't really affiliates so simply putting back the Springtime and Answers wikia would be fine.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:56, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
Okay I'll take off the create a new article section and what do you mean by putting back the Springtime and Answers wikia? Should I take them off too or let them be? And can anyone get a proper (good quality) manga image for the manga part in the slider? It should fit completely (like the current one). I feel that has to be changed.  Teppei  talk  16:02, 4/4/2013
A HD one would be nice --Nature Icon Yin–YangJmootam1999Nature Icon Yin–Yang 16:05, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

No, I mean but back Springtime and Answers wikia on the homepage you have there. I was thinking that it would be nice to have a shuffle of all the coloured two-page spreads that Kishimoto had made, but that may be asking for too much so any good manga image would be fine. As for the episodes section the daimyō were put there because they were literally "on tv". For the jutsu bit, we could use this? --Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 16:11, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Seems to be stripped off from somewhere. Nevermind though. Its using a lot of obsolete tags like big, font, etc.. For the latest chapter and episode we use smw, so that it updates automatically. That said, I would prefer the current (old) design; just put in those curves if they are really needed(?)~ UltimateSupreme 16:33, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

You don't like the curves do you ultimatesupreme-san -- Nature Icon Yin–YangJmootam1999Nature Icon Yin–Yang 16:35, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Nothing like that. I use them on Naruto Answers's mainpage too. Thats why I said, put it on the homepage if others really want (support) it.~ UltimateSupreme 16:50, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Uh, I do understand the fact that it updates automatically, but the problem with that is that the whole plot/summary of the latest chapter/episode is copied onto the home page. If that is going to be the case, then there is actually no need for the users to read the summary from a seperate episode/chapter page, they might as well just read it from the home page (meaning even we don't really have a reason to create such pages). Therefore with this "Read more..." option, users will actually tend to visit the episode/chapter page and read it form there. Plus it makes the home page look a little less shabby.

But if updating the templates is the problem, then I'll take care of updating the templates every week. Alright so now I'll create a section for Answers Wiki and the Springtime of Youth Wiki, then lets just test this appearance for some days and see the response. I'll let you know when I'm done. You okay with this right?

Oh and Cerez, you wanted me to change the color of the heading such that it complements the background right? But now I'll try and get a better background. For example, just check out the background of www.naruto.com before it redirects to naruto.viz.com. Its so damn cool.  Teppei  talk  13:24, 4/5/2013
This was a pretty pointless place to discuss this, as nobody can see it. I don't see why we need yet another change to the homepage, plus all that red clearly clashes with the orange background. This discussion would've been better off in a forum or on the Talk:Narutopedia, not hidden away here where nobody can see it >_> --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 15:43, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Done

Alright guys, its done. Let's switch and see the response. For the admins: I've made a list of templates used and unused in here.  Teppei  talk  14:21, 4/5/2013

Reverted because there's no actual outcome of this discussion. I think it looks good, but here's some questions:
  1. Is the change necessary ?
  2. Does it fit well with the current orange background ?
  3. Is everyone in agreement to making the change ?
I don't really want to have to see a discussion on new home page designs every 2-3 months, or it's just going to be a nuisance to keep on changing it. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 15:50, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

I think that the orange background needs to be changed to a different color as for me it dosent go that well(That's just my opinion). Also its a necessary change as we don't want the layout to get outdated and yeh im in agreement. However there is one problem and that's the huge amount of space below the content. Maybe remove the "See more" button and have the whole article on there to fill it up ? --Keep Calm And Call Kakashi (talk) 16:20, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

The design was only just changed a short time ago, I'd hardly call the current one "outdated" at all. I prefer orange, it's nice on the eyes, but red is just too gorey and will make people think we are some other wiki. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 16:22, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
