Naruto Shippūden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 5 (known as Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Council 4 in North America) is the fifth installment of the Ninja Council series, and is the first in its series to take place in the Shippūden time frame.
Gameplay
Gameplay is based on two modes: Story Mode and Wireless Battle Mode.
Story Mode
In Story Mode, you can choose to play as one of five characters (Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Kakashi Hatake, Neji Hyuga and Rock Lee). You can also choose two characters to provide backup with techniques like Naruto's Great Ball Rasengan or Kakashi's Lightning Blade. Story mode itself continues over 10 levels and follows the story of the Rescue Gaara arc.
Wireless Battle Mode
By using characters unlocked in Story Mode, you can go against friends in Wireless head-to-head fights.
Unlockables
After finishing a level, the character played with earns experience points which can be redeemed to unlock techniques, other characters as backups or other characters for use in Wireless Battle Mode. After beating the game, 5 more characters can be bought for Wireless Battle mode.

- This is the first handheld game in America where you can play as Deidara or Sasori.
