Between the Land of Waves Arc and Chūnin Exam Arc, Team 7 is given a mission to search for a missing man, Genmai, from the Inaho Village. While doing reconnaissance, Kakashi Hatake finds Genmai but gets stuck in a trap spell technique. Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha get ambushed by a group of missing-nin and their leader, Kajika, who have orders from Orochimaru to test Sasuke's strength and abilities. The group kidnaps Sakura, resulting in Naruto and Sasuke teaming up to get her back. In the end, it turns out to be a flashback of Sasuke's, who is shown standing beside Tobi, claiming he was remembering something frivolous.
