Naruto's Ninja Handbook (爆発!これぞナルト忍法帖～～っ!!, Bakuhatsu! Korezo Naruto Ninpōchō~~!!) is episode 78 of the original Naruto anime.
Gaara is angry with Naruto since he isn't giving him the challenge he wanted from someone who would protect his friends so much. Angered, Naruto attacks using his shadow clones to get close to the base of Gaara's tail, and performs the One Thousand Years of Death with a kunai and paper bomb. After knocking Naruto away the bomb detonates, damaging Gaara's form. Sasuke tells Naruto to save Sakura, and that he would hold off Gaara long enough for them to escape. Remembering what Haku said to him in the Land of Waves, Naruto realises that Gaara is exactly like him, carrying the same hatred and loneliness he had to. Repeating his vow to save Sakura, Naruto gathers up all his remaining chakra and summons 1000 shadow clones, to everyone's amazement.
While watching Naruto, Sasuke asks if he is the same person. The thousands of clones all attack Gaara at the same time, performing the Naruto Uzumaki Combo. Refusing to lose to Naruto, Gaara transforms into his full Shukaku form. Gaara than states he never thought Naruto would bring out the demon in him, and uses his Sand Binding Coffin on Naruto. As he is about to be crushed, Naruto manages to summon Gamabunta.
Unhappy about being summoned by Naruto again, Gamabunta looks on to see Shukaku the Sand Spirit. While initially turning down Naruto's request to fight alongside him, he soon changes his mind after listening to his son's words. Leaping into battle, Gamabunta slices one of Gaara's arms.
Emerging from the Shukaku's head, Gaara uses the Feigning Sleep Technique and falls asleep, bringing out the Shukaku and drastically increasing his power. The Shukaku is overjoyed at being free, and begins exchanging attacks with Gamabunta. Realising they stand no chance unless they make Gaara wake up, Gamabunta tries to grab hold of Shukaku so Naruto can wake up Gaara. After the initial attempt fails Gamabunta tells Naruto to use the combo transformation to transform them into something that has what they need. Charging toward the Shukaku, Naruto manages to transform them just in time, turning them into the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox.
