Medical Ninjutsu (医療忍術, Iryō Ninjutsu, literally meaning: Medical Ninja Techniques) is a branch of ninjutsu associated with healing, as well as the manipulation of their own, or anothers' body practised by medical-nin. The use of medical ninjutsu requires very good chakra control, as well as extensive knowledge on such things as herbs, medicines, the human body and even poisons.

Premesis

The knowledge of medical ninjutsu can be used for a variety of purposes apart from pure healing, such as creating and treating poisons as seen with Shizune who uses her extensive medical knowledge to create a poisonous gas, performing autopsies or surgeries, or attacking a person's body directly, deranging the target's nervous system or sending them into a comatose state by overriding their body with chakra.

Medical Ninjutsu in itself can also be used offensively, witnessed in Kabuto Yakushi's use of chakra scalpels in battle. Tsunade, the most celebrated medical-nin in the world, was able to applicate the extreme chakra control required for medical ninjutsu to engineer chakra-enhanced strength, which she has taught to her student Sakura Haruno as well.

Medical Ninjutsu Field Rules

When Tsunade establishes the practice of the Combat Medic Nin, she laid down three important rules:

1. Medical Ninja shall never give up on treating their teammates as long as they can still breath!
2. Medical Ninja are not allowed to engage in the battles!
3. Medical Ninja shall be the last to die on the team!

Tsunade also reveals a fourth rule:

4. Only those who have mastered "Byakugō", the Mitotic Regeneration technique... are allowed to break the above three rules!
