Maruten Akimichi (秋道マルテン, Akimichi Maruten) is a tokubetsu jōnin of Konohagakure's Akimichi clan.
Background[]
In the anime, it was shown that Maruten entered the Academy at the same time as Itachi Uchiha. The two also attended the same class.[2]
Personality[]
Maruten adores Shitō Akimichi like a brother and even attempts to copy his hairstyle and face paint.[1]
Appearance[]
Like other members of the Akimichi clan he is very robust, also, like most members of his clan he wears a samurai-like outfit with the kanji for "food" (食, shoku) on the front and has distinctive circular markings on his cheeks and chin. He wears his short light coloured hair in a topknot ponytail style. He also carries a bō.
As a child, he wore a brown hat, an orange-white shirt and overalls with the kanji for "food" (食, shoku) on them, akin to the outfit he wears in his adulthood.
Abilities[]
Although the full extent of his abilities are unknown, as an Akimichi, Maruten can convert calories into chakra in order to perform his clan's secret techniques. He was also seemingly proficient with wielding a bō.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he was sent to the Island Turtle alongside several other Konohagakure shinobi, to ensure that Naruto Uzumaki remained within the confines of his training room.[3] As he and his clansman moved in to stop Naruto from leaving the falls, they, along with several of the other shinobi were sent flying backward through the falls by Naruto. They are later ordered by Shibi to follow Naruto when he escaped.
