Before Asuma died, Shikamaru Nara promised him that he would look after and train this child.[2] The baby's gender is currently unknown. The baby was not seen until the Fourth Shinobi World War when Shikamaru pleaded with Chōji to help them stop a reincarnated Asuma from eventually possibly being used to kill his own child, whom they had promised to protect.[3]
Appearance
The child has black hair and was depicted wearing a simple yellow kimono with blue trimmings, held closed by a simple white sash.
Trivia
During a question and answer session held at Tokyo's Jump Fest '09, Masashi Kishimoto stated that he was thinking of making Kurenai and Asuma's child a girl.
In the anime, when Shikamaru asked Kurenai if she already thought about the baby's name, she stated she was thinking about it.
