He and Keiri warned Nonō Yakushi about the orphanage's financial struggles, which only became worse after Kabuto was taken in. He was defensive of Kabuto when it was discovered he needed glasses and saw great potential in him. Sometime later, when Danzō Shimura came to the orphanage to recruit a new member for Root, Kanpu became outraged when Danzō threatened to steal what little money the orphanage had if they didn't agree to his terms.
Kanpu is a very caring man as seen when he defended a young Kabuto from Keiri's verbal assault and when he became outraged when Danzō was going to take one of the orphanage's children.
Kanpu is an old man who has grey beard and moustache and black eyes. He also wears a pair of rectangular glasses and a black kimono with white trimmings and a white apron.
- "Kanpu" means "restoration".
