"Kakashi Hatake, the Jōnin in Charge" (担当上忍はたけカカシ, Tantō Jōnin Hatake Kakashi) is episode 179 of the Naruto: Shippūden anime.

Synopsis

Tsunade is also left in a coma as a result of overexerting herself in the village's defence, forcing the Fire Daimyō to select a new Hokage. Kakashi, one of the more recent notches of Hokage trained by other Hokage, is considered. Danzō claims that Kakashi and all of the previous Hokage have not been heavy-handed enough in dealing with foreign powers, resulting in Konoha's destruction. The daimyō accepts his reasoning and appoints Danzō as Sixth Hokage. Kakashi remembers when he was first put in charge of Team 7.

Trivia

The majority of the flashback revolving around Kakashi monitoring Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura contradicts with the events of the original story. In the original storyline the part of the Third Hokage and Kakashi in Naruto's apartment, where Kakashi found the carton with the expired milk originally took place after Naruto's attempt to impersonate Sasuke to talk to Sakura. For this episode, it was moved to before that event so Kakashi could monitor them throughout the day.
Another plot hole is that Sasuke confronts Naruto outside instead of indoors after Naruto came out of the bathroom and that Naruto fought him here unlike the original storyline where Naruto couldn't due to the indigestion caused by the expired milk.
