These three clans have a long history together and as such have formed teams consisting of one shinobi per clan for generations. This particular team consisted of Inoichi Yamanaka, Shikaku Nara and Chōza Akimichi. They formed an Ino–Shika–Chō trio during their younger years and are still working together in the present.
Their children are the current Ino–Shika–Chō trio as Team Asuma. In an omake for Naruto: Shippūden episode 173, Inoichi remarks that Ino–Shika–Chō was once renowned across the nations. Chōza then insists that they still are.
