He was a Takigakure ninja that Jiraiya encountered during his journey for his disciple. In the anime, he was shown to have been a level-headed ninja who believed that all he could do to try and achieve peace and to teach the next generation to survive the battles with other ninja until it came. His body was used by Nagato years later as the Human Path.

The Taki ninja's body as the Human Path
The Taki ninja's body was made into the Human Path of the Six Paths of Pain. The Human Path was able to rip out the souls of people and able to read minds. It was destroyed by Naruto Uzumaki's Wind Release: Rasenshuriken.
