Hashirama's "living clone" is a non-sentient clone of Hashirama Senju created by Madara Uchiha in order to harvest his unique abilities. It is located in the underground section of the Mountains' Graveyard.

Growing out of a giant tree's trunk is the clone which naturally bears strong resemblance to Hashirama. Eight hands are suspended around it. Spike-like protrusions also jut out from around and along the tree's stem/trunk. When Madara was still alive, the tree continuously sprouted White Zetsu Clones from its "branches" which Madara used to carry out his bidding. The stem, which grew noticeably longer by the time Tobi showed it to Kabuto Yakushi, bears a single flower upon which is seated the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path within its petals.[2] It should also be noted that its gigantic network of roots extends into a massive flooded cavern, where the White Zetsu Army was stored.

When Hashirama fought Madara Uchiha at the Valley of the End, Madara was believed to have been killed. However, as his apprentice Obito Uchiha learned, Madara used the battle to collect some of Hashirama's DNA which he would use to create the clone and further his plans.[2] This "tree" along with the statue also helped to sustain Madara's nourishment during his old age, while producing the creatures that eventually matured into the members of the White Zetsu Army.[3] By the time Madara had passed and the Fourth Shinobi World War had arrived, the clones (100,000 in number) were already created. After Kabuto Yakushi captured Yamato and studied Hashirama's DNA in Yamato's body to strengthen the White Zetsu Army, he suspends Yamato in the stem, facing the clone.[4]

Trivia

  • Overall, the tree and flower resemble the golden lotus flower with a much longer, and thinner stem.
