"Gutsy Master and Student: The Training" (ド根性師弟修業編, Dokonjō Shitei Shugyōhen) is episode 187 of the Naruto: Shippūden anime.

Synopsis

Naruto and Jiraiya left Konoha to begin their three year journey. While they travelled, they talked about Naruto's need to overcome Sasuke's Sharingan which has the ability to force a ninja under genjutsu. Jiraiya summoned Gamariki to place Naruto inside Genjutsu Kiss to practice breaking out of genjutsu techniques. Naruto tried to disrupt his inner chakra flow, but instead, created a wave of chakra around him thus hitting Gamariki in the physical world. Jiraiya decided Naruto is not ready to try and break out of genjutsu techniques. Thus, they left to Genjutsu Tree Village to train there, because it had natural genjutsu affinity. Jiraiya realised something was wrong in the once benevolent village as a villager he once knew acted hostile toward them and asked them to leave. Jiraiya and Naruto found out that Kandachi from Amegakure had taken over as a violent dictator.

Trivia

Tsunade's face is already carved into the Hokage Rock, even though in the anime, it was carved during the timeskip.
