It seems that now its time that we actually deciede something about the videos on this wiki. So:

  1. Which videos should we allow? Only game trailers and such?
  2. From which sites? Youtube?
  3. Where should they be used? In articles or just the RVM?
  4. Who should be allowed to upload videos? Everyone or only a certain group?

That would probably be a good start. ~ UltimateSupreme 10:26, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

It's better to turn out this discussion on this talkpage instead. Because we don't have a clear video policy. http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a553/anaspet06/Shakhmootssign_zps2a261e68.png(Contact) 10:45, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, how did I miss that discussion :(
But, we can use this forum to make a Video Policy (using the above points). ~ UltimateSupreme 11:04, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
According to the previous discussion on the talkpage above where a Wikia staff member contributed on it. The videos are allowed to be posted from official sties which are fully licensed to use where the associated communities prefer/permit. For the source, Youtube is a convenient choice but it should use HD versions. For the articles, I think we must add a titled "Video" sub-headings. And no problems for anybody that will upload them. So how about that? http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a553/anaspet06/Shakhmootssign_zps2a261e68.png(Contact) 11:15, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
I am personally very against video. We already skirt a very very thin line with the images we upload I imagine it will only get worse once we start adding video. While the policy may say "Only from official sources" you can bet your right eye people will just add videos of anything they can find.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 11:18, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
YouTube is the worst, most of them are copyvios. IMO, we should allow videos only from Wikia library.-- ~ UltimateSupreme 13:02, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
Personally I've never seen much use for videos feature especially with Narutopedia. But if they're going to be used, youtube is the last credible place on Earth.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 14:26, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

Just came across this thread. So, is it wrong if the videos are used on user profile pages such as on mine?  Teppei Yup, that's the symbol of the Uzumaki Clan. Click on the image to know more... talk 14:34, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

Sometimes a video can convey more about something than a picture. For example in game techniques. I think they should be used but I also think that the ability to add videos should be restricted to rollbackers, sysops and the bureaucrats: this way there can be no abuse and all videos added will be in accordance with policy. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 15:21, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
I think even restricting it to auto-confirmed will also suffice if we allow videos only from the Wikia Library. Since they are already licensed, we shouldn't need to add licenses and stuff. Any thoughts? ~ UltimateSupreme 03:59, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

HI, I just wanted to stop by and see if you are have any specific questions relating to video on Wikia. As I mentioned here we just got new videos in our video wiki for Naruto, and we have been working on new tools and options for uploading and managing videos. I am happy to answer questions, so let me know if you have any. Cheers, --Sarah (help forum | blog) 23:34, July 23, 2013 (UTC)

Re-opening the discussion

This discussion just seemed to die-off without any conclusions. The main point of this forum was to reach to a decision regarding videos on the wiki. So, starting again, here are a few important basic things:

Restrict uploads to Wikia Library?

There are good amount of videos there, so it should be fine to restrict it so that we have only licensed videos and no further issues...

Restrict uploads to particular group?

No, since only licensed videos can be uploaded we can allow all.

If there are any issues with the above, place your replies/comments under that section or feel free to create a new section for another topic.-- ~ UltimateSupreme 10:46, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
