In the recent Naruto Shippuden 271 episode "Road to Sakura" Sakura loses her memory and Ino tries to help her remember. When she runs into Sakura's parents she refers to them as Uncle and Aunt, though their relationship was originally defined as being friends.—This unsigned comment was made by 198.85.50.236 (talkcontribs) .

It's an honorific kind of thing in Japan where they refer to a family friend or someone aunt, uncle, brother, etc. Just like when Naruto calls Tsunade grandma. So no, Sakura and Ino are not cousins. --OmegaRasengan (talk) 17:31, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

I disagree

I don't know I say they are cousins, because Sakuras mom has blonde hair and greens eyes, you much like Ino and her dad. And if this is true, how come choujis, inos, and shikamarus dads were never addressed like that. Just a thought. —This unsigned comment was made by 173.2.80.212 (talkcontribs) .

Several characters call other characters will those as terms of endearment. Like it was mentioned, Naruto calls Tsunade granny. He also calls Shizune big sister, both Jiraiya and the Third Hogake grampa. Kurotsuchi called Deidara big brother. They're not related. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:50, August 5, 2012 (UTC)

I always thought when naruto said gramps, it was just him being a little rude. I mean Naruto started calling Tsunade grandma from the start, Im not sure in this but I think Tsunade was mad. And if so, how come Naruto is the only one that says gramps and grandma, last time I checked naruto is supposed to be the "rude" character with lack of home training. Besides that after looking at the series as a whole I think that Sakuras mom and dad are not Inos auntie and uncle. Because I think that at one point in their relationship before the series Ino was kind of a bully but eventually became nice, hence the head scarf she gave Sakura to cover her forehead. Im again not sure if it was just other kids making fun of Sakura and Ino was her only friend, either way it's a grey area, I think maybe Kishimoto would put it in the next fact book. —This unsigned comment was made by 173.2.80.212 (talkcontribs) .

Initially it was meant to show Naruto's rude/abrasive personality but now, it's just what he does. He calls B "uncle" as well, grandpa Raikage and Tsuchikage and Shikamaru's called Chōji's Mother "aunty". It is highly unlikely that they're related just because Mebuki has blonde hair and green eyes, which doesn't even hold true because members of the Yamanaka also have auburn hair.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:03, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

Not to mention Naruto calls Dodai "the rubber guy"--Elveonora (talk) 17:18, August 6, 2012 (UTC)

When calling people like that without actually being close to them is considered rude, it's a term of endearment of when by someone you're close to. It's kinda like the opposite of Sasuke and Kakashi. Sasuke never called him Kakashi-sensei, which taking in account their student-teacher relationship, is considered rude.
