What would be everybody's opinions on having a reimplementation of Wikipedia's reference popups; the feature that lets you hover over a citation and displays the contents of the reference in a floating box.
The obvious advantage of this is that you can view the references in situ without having to scroll to the bottom, or click the citation and lose your [mental] place in the article? ~ UltimateSupreme 12:44, December 26, 2012 (UTC)
- Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that either a feature of the Vector skin they use, or the MediaWiki engine version 1.20, that is newer than the one Wikia currently uses? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 12:50, December 26, 2012 (UTC)
- You are partly right and partly wrong and btw, wikipedia uses MW1.21 ~ UltimateSupreme 13:01, December 26, 2012 (UTC)
I have tested it. It looks good. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 08:12, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
- No problem with it for me. Would be convenient for reading and such instead of being redirected to the reference section.--Cerez365™(talk) 10:58, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
Thanx. For ease of maintainance we will import it directly from wikipedia:
/**Reference Popups
*Adapted from wikipedia
*For wikia by [[User:UltimateSupreme]]
*/
mw.loader.load( '//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-ReferenceTooltips.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript' );
mw.loader.load( '//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-ReferenceTooltips.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css' );
mw.util.addCSS( '.referencetooltip > li > sup { display: none; }' );
That should do it. ~ UltimateSupreme 12:09, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
