I wasn't sure from the last chapter, but this chapter(563) confirms that Onoki's flying technique and his (super) light weight rock technique are one and the same. This is proven when Kabuto expects A's attack to be weaker due to the fact that Onoki lightened him to increase his speed. In his flashback, Onoki was using his flying technique when he punched Kabuto's(really Deidara's) clay clone in the chest. Meaning Onoki must be using the light weight rock technique to make himself and others less dense than air. This has the unwanted effect of making physical attacks weaker.
Erm, I don't think that's what happened. Considering that A didn't fly at all from what I could see, I kind of doubt this. The fact that this is A we're talking about, in addition to the speed in his Raiton Armor increasing the impact of his hits, I'm certain it was just Light-Weight Rock tech., not the Flight tech, and that they're different. o3o Skitts (talk) 19:44, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
well, the two techniques matbe slightly different, but we can at least derive that the flying technique is an earth release tech, and works on similar principles. The fact that Kabuto recognized Onoki's punch as lighter is too much evidence to ignore.
Actually, you don't know if it's an Earth Release technique. Not only has it not been stated what type of nature transformation it is, but the fact that the only two known users of it are also Dust Release users seems too coincidental. In any case, we wait for an actual confirmation, not suspicion. :l Skitts (talk) 19:52, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
I used to think it might have been dust release too. But there has been too much evidence in the contrary. For one, the method he uses to transfer the technique to others. In both cases, he merely puts his hand on them, and makes no hand seals. Also notice that there are super and normal versions of the aggravated and light-weight rock technique. Its not really a stretch to say he could use the normal one to speed up a person, and the super to make them fly. And about the only people using it being dust-release users. Notice that one, they're both Kages, two, they both also use earth release, and three, they're master and apprentice. So its likely they know a lot of the same techniques, dust release or otherwise. Now, if Kabuto hadn't have said what he said, I would have conceded that you were right that there wasn't enough evidence that these techniques were the same or similar to each other. But no, Kabuto did say that he expected the Raikage's punch to be a light punch because when Onoki was flying, he punch was lighter than he would have punched normally. This statement cannot be taken any other way. You can choose to ignore it if you like in preference of something more detailed, but I can tell you its not coming anytime soon. Why? Because there's a war going on. And I don't know if you've noticed, but Kishi has been trying to speed explain a lot the unknown techniques. Example? When he had the mizukage state that genjutsu was under the category of Yin release. He obviously didn't have time to explain that further, as they were fighting each other, and stopping to do that would take away the flow of the manga. And then there was the fact that he had the Hydrification technique, when it was neither stated nor shown. And yet, it was derived that because he was from the hozuki clan, and because some of his jutsu came straight from his body, that he had it. And then there's the fact that Madara's Meteorite technique is a giant bansho tenin, just using susanoo to pull giant ones instead of the little one Nagato pulled. Kishi is not going to stop the manga just to explain all of these. The manga is moving too fast for it. The only way you're going to get something more detailed than that is when and if the next databook comes out, which probably won't be until the manga is over, if this arc happens to be the last. So you can choose to wait for something more detailed, but you're going to be waiting a long time.
