I wanted to let this community know that later today our Community Engineering team will be testing a new method to place users in the 'autoconfirmed' group. The reason why this wiki is being tested was that this wiki previously expressed either confusion or a bug to Wikia about the autoconfirmed group and whether a member should or should not be autoconfirmed.
Previously, Wikia had a 4-day/0-edit threshold in place. 4 days was determined from the registration date of the account, not necessarily the date the user first went to and joined a wiki. That will remain the same. However, if a wiki had an edit threshold (wgAutoConfirmCount) in place, it would also query the number of GLOBAL edits by the user, not necessarily the edits on one specific wiki. Due to the feedback, we have decided to make the AutoConfirmCount check the editcount of a user on a wiki-by-wiki basis.
This wiki has an AutoConfirmCount of 10 in place. From now on, all users who become autoconfirmed will have to have 10 edits on Naruto to become autoconfirmed (plus the 4 days, of course). Hopefully that will make administration of new users easier for this community.
We do not anticipate any issues with this, we have tested this on our servers the last week and this is a rather minor tweak. We will also be giving this community extra attention over the coming days to make sure the new local editcount table is not causing any extra load times; it really shouldn't. But I did want to give you all a heads up none the less. I will be happy to answer any questions here. --DaNASCAT (help forum | blog) 18:29, March 14, 2013 (UTC)
