Is this field going to correctly sync up to the character infoboxes? Would be nice if it did, and included the (anime) and (game) things behind them. That way, I or someone else could click a character and see his/her jutsu in the manga, anime, and games. (and yes, i do want to see game jutsu listed here, so i can see the game-makers interpretations of what other jutsu they might have)--SkyFlicker (talk) 06:25, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

I've done some work on the Jutsu infobox and fixed most of the issues with it. Could people take a look over it and make sure that the infobox isn't missing anything needed for other Jutsu pages?

~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jul 28, 2009 @ 19:29 (UTC)
For me, if u can get rid of the "Hide" option under users, it'll be perfect.....--AlienGamer--Talk-- 19:48, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and I noticed, there isn't a place for Hand Seals....Frankly I think its better this way as more ofter than not, ppl can vandalize that, without anyone noticing it too much, or without rechecking the epi or chapter u saw it, to see which is right....But, just a simple observation...--AlienGamer--Talk-- 19:59, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Movie debut and game debut are missing. There's also hand seals, but that probably wouldn't work well in an infobox. User doesn't work properly in "with" cases like Dual Piercing Fang. Additionally, from an aesthetic perspective, the element icon seems oddly placed. ~SnapperTo 20:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
And references dont add to well.."The Given Value Was Not Understood" is the msg that comes when u add one..--AlienGamer--Talk-- 20:17, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Jutsu's of the Type: Tailed Beast skill, go under what field? also it would be nice if preview mode didnt' leave formedit.. Simant (talk) 20:23, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
The above problem can be fixed if manual linking can be done instead of it being done automatically....--AlienGamer--Talk-- 20:45, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
 • Meh, the hide button is part of the box, I'd rather just leave it there for boxes like that which can grow long.
 • I'll probably add in the hand seals anyways.
 • References will be fixed with a few properly placed #negref tags
 • Tailed Beast skill? How did we organize that in the first place?
 • Preview mode leaves formedit... It's something that we just have to deal with. I tried to fix that once, such a thing requires a rewrite of MediaWiki's EditPage.php class, and I only got part way through that. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jul 28, 2009 @ 21:06 (UTC)
Suggestion: Add Tailed Beast skill in the same category as nin/gen/taijutsu.--TheUltimate3 (talk) 21:58, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Pages with exceptions in users like Clone Technique need a way to be displayed. And is 'all ninja academy graduates' an acceptable in the user field? Btw... i was wondering after these jutsu infobox's are up, will there be a way to use something like so that jutsu lists on character pages update with the jutsu page? Simant (talk) 20:49, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm considering the suggestion (I believe it was Snapper2's) of just making only Character names valid for the users field, to make things much simpler. And yes, the new character infoboxes are going to be purely based on ask queries. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jul 29, 2009 @ 23:42 (UTC)

I think what you've done to Shadow Imitation Technique is better, separating the hand seal, it's debut is what i think more appropriate, also I suggest we just put a nature icon for ex. for Wind Release: Rasenshuriken is wind release icon separating it from the infobox. tsujiraoro07

What is going to be the method we are going to use to transfer the jutsu pages to the new format when we are ready to do so. Simant (talk) 21:03, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Go to a page in the Jutsu category. Hit the formedit button. Copy information out of the article into the form fields. Hit save. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Aug 3, 2009 @ 23:40 (UTC)

I really like what is done with the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken Infobox. It is well organised, and I like the fact that the Nature Icon is actually inside the Infobox. But what I really like is the fact the "see also" part in most articles would be cut off, because the "Parent Jutsu" section is there. I am really satisfied with the Jutsu infoboxed. I just have one question, when can we start using them? Also, I was just worried if the bugs for the infobox are still there. --NejiByakugan360 02:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

So.. Um when we gonna start using them? Who is gonna be the first person to lead the charge in transforming the jutsu pages.. Simant (talk) 18:06, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I dont think the flaws were corrected yet...--AlienGamer--Talk-- 11:05, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

To raise an additional concern for whenever this is picked up again, most jutsu descriptions aren't even a paragraph long. This leaves the infobox several times longer than the articles' actual content. Would a horizontal infobox be feasible? ~SnapperTo 23:50, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Wouldn't that cause problems with the pic?..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 05:12, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
No. I'm thinking of something like an infobox version of the infobox-less articles. Like this:
Name {english}, ({kanji}, {romaji}) {image}
Stats {range}, {classification}, {potatoes}
Debut
 • {manga}
 • {anime}
 • {other}

My buttocks is something I often sit on. It was badly damaged in the past, leaving a crack. Under the right conditions it shoots flames that have led to the moniker of "Fire Flatulence Ace".

??? ~SnapperTo 05:41, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, that looks way better than i imagined...and lol for the discription..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 05:50, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
If anyone is interested in seeing a functioning (and ugly) version of the horizontal infobox I suggested, a sample can be seen here. As of this writing it assumes that every jutsu has: an English name, either kanji or romaji, an image, jutsu stats, a user, a debut, and that if there is kanji there is also romaji. ~SnapperTo 18:21, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

I think the infoboxes can be used now. Most of the stuff is done. It does need a little css cleanup and whatnot, but that can lazily be done later on. Ignore broken refs for now, that can lazily be fixed later without issue. As well, the episode infobox should be ready to use, that one I'd like to get people to start using more. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 1, 2009 @ 07:06 (UTC)

There's still a slight problem. In the case of the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique and anything similar, where a lot of shinobi can use the tech, we state "Various ..... Ninja". That goes under users. Because of the auto linking, it appears as a red link...--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 16:15, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

And one more thing. For debut, Shippuden keeps appearing no matter what you do. Well that is unless you manually remove it, and not use the form...--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 16:31, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
And the infobox still doesn't like things that aren't in the "Genjutus/Ninjutsu/Taijutsu" family, such as the Tailed Beast skill (Such as FFour-Tailed Fox Menacing Ball, and moves what involve two characters (Such as Naruto and Shion's Super Chakra Rasengan, you have to list then separate as if they can use the jutsu separately.--TheUltimate3 (talk) 16:41, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Another thing, this isn't as big a problem, but Under "Type", where u state the release, When i type "F" I get the option of "Fire Release", which is very convinient, but if i select it, it comes with a default comma, which means the title icon wont appear...--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 16:50, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Can we add a Hidden Category, on a page such as , when there is no image provided for the page. It would help people when they want to help upload pictures. Simant (talk) 17:52, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Also, the jutsu infobox dosn't seem to as of yet support the jutsu media filter.. could we use the debut to determine that and integrate it? Simant (talk) 19:01, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Something got screwd up...The Rank keeps falling under Type..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 19:18, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
And now, Range keeps dissapearing after saving the page so its got to be added manually, and for range, it says "uses kekkei genkai." I'll stop the updating for a bit..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 22:02, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
How about an arraymap to convert commas in the "hand signs" to → arrows. Simant (talk) 17:25, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
One last thing...First, evrything works perfectly now, but i wanna know, where does movie debut's go?..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 18:30, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
As well as game debuts, that appear only in game. Simant (talk) 18:31, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Um... are we doing this now as well in the jutsu infobox i mean thats fine.. you could have it for both but you would have to set it up to be in the tools category... Simant (talk) 16:21, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

I know there are still jutsu to be updated, but is there a list or a way to find out which jutsu still have to have the infobox added? I'm not sure looking for each jutsu individually would do much. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 16:36, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

I can think of one way... Temporarily set the infobox to set the jutsu to a seperate category. then send a bot to all the jutsu pages and do a null edit, then only the ones left in the non-modified Category:Jutsu, would be the ones needed to be updated.. But that would temporarily mess up semantic search for jutsu.Simant (talk) 16:45, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Alternatively, you could just compare and contrast the contents of Category:Jutsu and that category.
And to whoever reads this: please remember to list specific characters, not groups, in the user parameter. No villages/clans/etc. Use special:whatlinkshere if you need to. ~SnapperTo 17:53, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
And stop forgetting to put the |ref= tags...! Simant (talk) 18:05, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
I added a field for movie/game debuts, and changed the jutsu media field to radio-buttons. Simant (talk) 23:31, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
I finished all the anime, and movie jutsu's, so all thats left is the game jutsus, and a few other jutsus. Simant (talk) 01:37, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Nagato

Nagato needs to be listed as the 'user' for all his sub-jutsu, with the 'six paths of pain' and 'insert certain path name here' as the parent jutsu. If say, deva path, isn't listed as the parent jutsu for 'magic lanter tech', then when people go to 'deva path', they will have no way of seeing in the infobox which jutsu deva path uses, since 'deva path' is a jutsu. The only way to get each of the path's pages to show their list of jutsu in the infobox, is for the path to be listed as the parent jutsu. Then when the parent/child feature takes effect, it will list them correctly in the infobox. However, 'nagato', 'pain', and 'deva path', can still be listed in the 'users' field, but the path still needs to be listed in the parent jutsu field as well, or there is no way for the infobox on deva path's page to show HIS jutsu.

Agreed? --SkyFlicker (talk) 18:19, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
