:Well, an Encyclopedia is primarily a collection of information gathered from other sources rather than a collection of original research. So I expect that most of the editors simply track down good sources which list the character's names with their Japanese forms and copy the Japanese text over here. As for what type, I would say that 99% of the Japanese text here is Kanji. Though I think there are a few uses of Hirigana in special explanations. If you have a good page listing all the Kanji, Hirigana, or Katakana fell free to give it to me, and I can use it to add the Japanese characters into the Edittools box. ~<span style="font-weight: bold;" title="Dantman does not work for Wikia">NOTASTAFF</span> Daniel Friesen<small> (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire)</small> (talk)<nowiki/> <small>current discussion</small> <small>Mar 8, 2008 @ 20:38 (UTC)</small>
