Today I saw two templates: Preformatted manga-scan and Preformatted tv-screenshot. They have been excellently crafted. I was wondering why aren't we using them on Special:Upload? It would make many things a lot easier. We could turn the code for placing fair use rationale on Special:Upload into a pop-up box which would place the selected template.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 11:19 UTC, Thursday, 15 November 2012

Discussion

Sounds like it would take less time to fill out the information yes? And we'd have standard rationales yes? --Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 16:12, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

The basic idea would be:
When you go to Special:Upload, a pop up box would appear with 2 buttons: anime and manga. When you click on one, eg. Manga, it will place the following (something similar)

and the other one for anime. If you want to see how it works, here is an example (see the source) — UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 16:27 UTC, Thursday, 15 November 2012

Alas I feel this is one of those things that I would actually have to use to know if it's good. Though that seems like it would be fine with a few tweaks.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 16:46, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Can't we try? Jacce | Talk | Contributions 18:10, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

I think Dan and or Ulti are working on it ask we speak.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 18:13, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Note that right now Wikia doesn't even generally send people to Special:Upload. They have a dialog that pops up which erases all our warnings, erases our preformatted rationale, and hides all required descriptive and license information under a collapsed 'advanced' section.

Also commons:Special:UploadWizard looks like a much more interesting thing to have installed and customized. ~ Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (Local TalkAnimanga Talk) 18:22, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think the Upload Wizard is going to be very user friendly and it might actually confuse people. Keeping it nice and simple is better here. I prefer to use the standard templates, but this isn't a bad idea. However I have to say no, sorry. To cerez's point on standard rationale's, tried to start a discussion, was ignored by the entire wikiad. You can keep saying about it but it won't be done :) --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | My Wiki | Channel 18:35, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

@Dantman:Yeah, I know that. The script to fix it that I told you earlier is against the TOU (though many wikis use it). And thats how we upload images even now O.o.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 01:11 UTC, Friday, 16 November 2012

Here you go Jacce: User:UltimateSupreme/FairUseUpload.js.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 13:55 UTC, Friday, 16 November 2012

Its ready to use now, you can test it.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 04:57 UTC, Saturday, 17 November 2012
I can't see it. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 07:49, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

Because you haven't added it yet O.o— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 07:58 UTC, Saturday, 17 November 2012

Now it's working. Looking good. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 08:52, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

So. I ended up using this today and it thoroughly confused me o.o Why can't this preformatted one just be like the old rationale we use? Leave the spaces that need to be edited, ebitable and the others as standard add-ins. Some of the new stuff can stay cause it's really time-saving like the characters part, but the summary sections duplicate and so does the licensing.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 00:14, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Have a look at Help:Common image pages.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 03:23 UTC, Sunday, 18 November 2012

No, I can use it just fine. I think it was just the first time use that got me. But I was just pointing out some errors that occur and was wondering why we've totally abandoned the old fair use format? --Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 12:45, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

The main advantage is that it does many things automatically. See File:Choji vs Gedo Mazou in Storm 3.jpg for example.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 13:30 UTC, Sunday, 18 November 2012

I'm not arguing against using it, I have a bit of a problem with the formatting. Why can't it stay as (using the anime rationale):

 • This is the format people know or are more used to so it wouldn't look so foreign.
 • I know it does things automatically, that was part of the convenience I was talking about, I just think the format/layout should be a bit different.
 • I also think the url art should be left out, we shouldn't be advertising that we or most of us get the images from illegal websites.
 • Also, we need to tell the users that they don't have to add licensing because it's automatically added? (I'm assuming).--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:28, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

How about adding a preview button to Special:Upload? It won't work perfectly though, the preview is too wide in Oasis, and too narrow in Monobook. Fixing that is somewhat complicated.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 11:48 UTC, Thursday, 22 November 2012

It looks like it is working perfectly to me. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 12:20, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

Then ignore whatever I said...— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 12:46 UTC, Thursday, 22 November 2012

Ok, I had a look at some pictures recently uploaded by Norleon (kudos for 1080p uploads! :)) using this template and I don't really like it a lot. It's impossible to update any specific image containing a mistake. The previous way of just adding each template individually was a lot less complicated and easier to do. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | My Wiki | Channel 16:43, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

What can't you update?— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 03:58 UTC, Saturday, 24 November 2012

The whole rationale that is being premade by these templates is not the rationale standard that is common with the wikia. I personally prefer just using Fair use and Fair use rationale rather than this preformatted crap. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | My Wiki | Channel 11:04, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

If thats what everyone wants ~ clear your cache and see Special:Upload.— UltimateSupreme ƒ(♫) 05:14 UTC, Thursday, 29 November 2012

Small fix, use this instead for anime (similar for manga):
Image tags

Thanks. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | My Wiki | Channel 08:02, November 29, 2012 (UTC)
