I thought I'll put this in the forum because so many pages cover this. When White Zetsu uses his Substitute Technique, can he use the target's jutsu?

If yes, why isn't he seen using this much? With the possible exception of Yota and Team 8 in those filler episodes? Heck why don't they just create an army of Madara's? There has to be some limitation right?

If no, why don't the Allied Forces figure out the impostors simply by asking each other to perform their favorite jutsus? Why does Shikaku conclude that the only way to sense them is using Naruto?

They can, but they don't know techniques of those they impersonate most of the time.--Elveonora (talk) 20:12, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Thus far none of them have used the techniques of the persons they have impersonated. One feigned use of Kisame's Water Release before dying and another copied the appearance of Hinata's Byakugan. Like Karunyan said, there has to be some limitations else I don't think anyone starting a war would've used them solely for attrition when they could copy those shinobi's abilities.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 20:53, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Even if they did copy the ability to perform their techniques, there's also the issue of them not being strong enough to pull them off, if the technique is too strong, or the skill to use them, depending on how complex the technique is. I'd restrict mentions of copying the abilities to the anime. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:38, July 8, 2013 (UTC)
