Just because this wiki is all about Naruto, and the introduction talks about liking fanatic people. I'm thinking we're going to call Bureaucrats Kages, Sysops Jounins, Registered Users Chunin, and Anons Genin. And yes, when given my status I can change Bureaucrat and Sysop to read Kage and Jounin. We could also call privileged users Tokubetsu Jonin. Or we could bump anons down to Academy Student, make Registered Users Genin, and make Privileged Users Chunin. Oh ya, and yes I am adopting the wiki. I'm also doing the same for the Anime and Inuyasha wiki, and setting it up so the anime related wikia can be linked together (i.e. An anime network.) Dantman (Talk) 04:09, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Good idea but I don't get it. -LoneWolf 5

sysops have the ability to protect/unprotect pages, edit protected pages, delete pages, ban users, etc... and bureaucrats have the ability to promote other users to be come sysops and bureaucrats. But we have special pages in the MediaWiki Namespace. MediaWiki:group-sysop-member can change the text of the tag displayed when people have a sysop flag on them. MediaWiki:group-sysop can change the plural of the name of the group they are listed under (Sysops in the drop-down box), and MediaWiki:grouppage-sysop can change the page which people are directed to when they click on that tag name in the userlist. The same goes for MediaWiki:group-bureaucrat-member, MediaWiki:group-bureaucrat, and MediaWiki:grouppage-bureaucrat. Using those pages, and changing all other occourences of their use in the system messages will basicaly allow me to change the tags for Sysop and Bureaucrat into whatever we choose. It lets us customize the MediaWiki system here to fit Naruto more. In the proposed case, Bureaucrat will become Kage, and Sysop could become Jounin. Basicly replacing the names of status in MediaWiki with the names of status in Naruto. Dantman (Talk) 04:09, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
So that would make me a.... By the way, can I remove some of the stuff off of this page? It seems to be a little crowded but I don't know if that is wrong or not.

-LoneWolf 5

Lol, technicaly yes you would be a Genin, or a Chunin depending on what system we picked. (Though more like Chunin cause you're one of the most active members ;)) But it wouldn't reflect that anywhere, only information on the administrative tags is shown. Ohhh, maybe bots could be a reference to the Ultimate Beasts, or whatever the name was. Actualy, this page isn't that big. We don't remove content from talk pages, we actualy Archive It, I'll figure out how this is done and I'll archive the completed sections of this page. Don't worry, I'll be setting up the Forums here once I have the ability to edit pages in the MediaWiki namespace. Dantman (Talk) 10:25, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I've done part of it to try out now. Sysop is Jounin, and Bureaucrat is Kage. In the future I could also find things such as annon and autoconfirmed and change them arround if we like this. Dantman (Talk) 07:28, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Who will exacly be on this Administration anyway besides you Dantman and a couple others.......I just want to know anyways because there no one on it.. DarkLordofChaos90 23:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

A wikia dosen't usualy need more than one admin if that admin is as active as I am. But I may choose someone to do some admin work sometime in the future, but it's not needed now. Project:Administrators does have current listings. Dantman (Talk) 23:47, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

All Right o.k just wanted to know due to the lack of support of this wiki :) DarkLordofChaos90 23:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

There's no actual lack of support. An admins job is doing things like deleting pages taged for deletion, helping the comunity revert and ban vandals, and clearing things up on the back end. The rest of the jobs are pretty much done fine without the help of an admin. But I've refrained from doing some work right now because of the discussion still going on at Forum:Names, once that's been concluded (hopefully keeping the standards of proper english that are used on every wiki in the Wikia Anime Project) I will start the normal task that I do on every wiki I administrate, making so many contributions to the wiki even 3 members can't even match up to my edit count. lol. (Seriously, The Gaiapedia, my edit count, over 2,000. Highly active members and the old founder who abandoned the wiki, arround 400.) But actualy, it's nice that I see people trying to contribute. But editing names to change arround standards or whatever people think isn't helping the wiki. Copying over articles from wikipedia and doing minor formatting changes (not changing any of the name links, but changing links to jutsu pages) is very helpfull though. Other than the fact that naming standards not being decided on, and all the links being fixed after standards are set being one of the reasons it's pointless. But the real reason it's pointless is because the truth is, after we set a name standard, i'm going to let a bot loose on this wiki and before you guys even know it, every reference to a name on this wiki in a article will be replaced with the name which conforms to the standards. In fact, I might just use that same bot every now and then to ensure standards are kept. Dantman (Talk) 00:21, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

O.K thank for the info and try to make this wiki good for the newcomers of the series lol DarkLordofChaos90 04:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Ack... I did it again... I've only been an admin for a short while... and again I've already got myself a higher edit count than 2 or 3 of the most active users on the wiki. T_T I do this all the time, it's the curse of being an active admin. Well, at least no-one can deny that I've contributed. Dantman (Talk) 18:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Gasp* Even more then me? I have to admit back in the old days before you became Admin I was the main contriubter. -LoneWolf 5
Yes, I know you were the main contributor. You are the highest on the list of possible Narutopedia Admins, after I see people starting to get the haing of things like WikiText, community over self, compatability with other projects, and knowing what an administrator really does. I was going to install the Javascript Edit Counter here, but interestingly enough Wikia has a new Special:Editcount page. As you'll see Special:Editcount/Dantman, outnumbers that of other peoples. Special:Editcount/LoneWolf 5, Special:Editcount/DarkLordofChaos90, Special:Editcount/Dubtiger. But that's nothing, check out w:c:gaia:Special:Editcount/Dantman Dantman (Talk) 19:29, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Woah! That is alot. I'm really shocked at how much you have there on Gaiapedia. That is just unnatural...at least to me. —This unsigned comment was made by LoneWolf 5 (talkcontribs) on 16:57, 24 February 2007.
Lol, that just shows how much I do to contribute to a wiki when I administrate it. PS: It's The Gaiapedia. I like to emphasize that cause that's the legal name we go by. We can stick with just Narutopedia here though. It's probably because I do everything from page deletions, improving templates, editing articles, enforcing standards, reverting vandalism and warning vandals, adding standards, and many other tasks. You should see what I can do with templates. Wait, you can ^_^. I've combined a number of templates from other places like PD-self, PD-user, PD-old, PD-openclipart, PD, CC-by-2.0, CC-by-2.5, CC-by-sa-2.5, CC-by-nc-2.5, ... GPL, GPL-self, LGPL, GFDL, GFDL-user, GFDL-self, FAL, FAL-self, etc... Into a small set of templates {{PD}}, {{CC}}, {{GNU}}. And they have even more functionality than the older versions. You gotta love my Userboxes to. 6 Levels of opinion towards Anime has been condensed into one template and also given the ability to refer to specific anime. The same goes for the 7 levels of opinion towards Manga. And I took 3 userboxes about Death Note, and combined them into one which also allows for another option which gives that userbox the options of what would be 6 different userboxes. Dantman (Talk) 01:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Wow...wish I could do stuff like that. I'm trying to creat an Astrologypedia but I haven't gotton much review. And I'm not sure if you saw it but I tried to use the Userboxes and for some reason they didn't work. Maybe they only work on The Animepedia. -Lone Wolf 5

There's a new type of status on wikia now. I (as a Bureaucrat(Kage)) now have the ability to give normal users the ability to use the rollback function without needing to give them Sysop(Jonin) status. If you're wondering what rollback is. On the current diff page for an article (EG: if you hit the diff link inside of the recent changes) a button which says [rollback] appears. Basicly clicking on that link reverts all the recent edits made by the most recent editor. So if an order of edits went Dantman, LoneWolf 5, Dubtiger and then the rollback button was pressed Dubtiger's edits would be instantly removed reverting it to LoneWolf 5's last edit. If the order went Dantman, Dubtiger, LoneWolf 5, LoneWolf 5 and the rollback button was pressed, both LoneWolf 5's edits would be reverted and the article would revert to the last edit by Dubtiger. And if the edit order went Dantman, Lexar12, LoneWolf 5, Lexar12, Dubtiger, Lexar12, Lexar12 and the rollback button was pressed, the 2 recent edits by Lexar12 would be reverted and it would return to the one edited by Dubtiger. The button also apears on a user's contributions page if they were the last person to make an edit on that page. The Rollback function is basicly a quick way of reverting vandalism. Maybe we should make a new order of status, we've got a few options. Make your pick: Dantman (Talk) 20:07, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki Status Option A Option B Option C Option D Option E Option F
Bureaucrat Kage Kage Kage Kage Kage Kage
Sysop Jonin Jonin Sannin Jonin Sannin Jonin
Rollback Chunin Tokebesu Jonin Jonin Tokebesu Jonin Jonin Chunin
Privileged User (Social Status) Chunin Chunin Genin
Registered User (autoconfirmed) Genin Chunin Chunin Genin Genin Academy Student
Anon User (IP) Academy Student Genin Genin Academy Student Academy Student Villager

WOAH! I just want you to know that even though I edit this alot, I have NO CLUE what you guys talk about sometime....Sorry...This makes me feel even MORE stupid. At least I can do the sign your name thing... LoneWolf 5 00:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)LoneWolf 5

If you're wondering about things about MediaWiki. Then the Anime:Help:Contents and m:Help:Contents may help. As for this, it's just a new set of options for how we name people of different status here on the narutopedia. I am a Bureaucrat and Sysop so that's shown in the table above. An IP address, eg 64.242.126.3 is an Anon User. And you are currently a Registered User, though I might either be considering you a Privileged User, or possibly giving you the rollback ability. Though, I'm thinking that Option D is the best option that reflects an equivilant between user status and ninja rank. If you're wondering where these names may be used. Then they'll be shown in Special:Listusers, and I'm also making userboxes which user's may use to state what type of user they are (restricted to what they actualy are of course). Though don't worry, I've already made a different type of Ninja Rank userbox which people are free to use which has nothing to do with this system. Dantman (Talk) 00:29, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay...Actually I didn't need a long explation. I wasn't really looking at it...Sorry. By the way about the templite. Where do you get it? I tried looking on the Animepeida but I couldn't find it.LoneWolf 5 00:36, 1 March 2007 (UTC)LoneWolf 5
Oh, It's Anime:Template:User Anime/Naruto/Ninja Rank, It'll be used in the form such as {{User Anime/Naruto/Ninja Rank|<genin>}}, I just haven't added it to the listing or run the bot yet. I'd like to find something to add to the ID section. Only Kage has something, the rest are blank. Dantman (Talk) 02:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Could I get one or two more votes of feedback before I create the userbox for the status levels. Dantman (Talk) 01:30, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok, that's 3 votes for Option D. Kage means Bureaucrat, Jonin means Sysop, Tokebesu Jonin is someone with the rollback ability, Chunin is given to a few users we let do things that we wouldn't let normal users do, Genin is anyone who has a normal registered account, and an Academy Student is an anon user, or IP address.
