He was a ninja that fought Jiraiya during his journey for his disciple. His body was used by Nagato years later as the first Animal Path. In the anime, the character Naruto's fight with the ninja in Jiraiya's story is slightly based off Jiraiya's fight with this Fūma ninja.

As the corpse through which the Animal Path ability was channelled, this body had the ability to summon the animals under the control of Pain such as a snake-tailed chameleon, a crab, a dog, and a bird. Along with these it could also summon the other Six Paths of Pain corpses and Konan.

Part II

Itachi Pursuit Arc

The Animal Path confronting Jiraiya.

Activated to confront the person that had infiltrated the village, the Animal Path comes face to face with Jiraiya. After a brief exchange of words, the Animal Path summons a giant crustacean which it has wash away the oil that covered Konan's body. As the battle ensued, the Animal Path summoned several more offensive and defensive type animals into battle against Jiraiya but is later seemingly defeated until the other three of the Six Paths of Pain arrive. The Animal Path is subsequently sucked into Jiraiya's drawn into|Gourd Toad where it is taken to Konohagakure.

Invasion of Pain Arc

By the time of the invasion, this Animal Path was replaced with another. This Animal Path was taken to Konohagakure and autopsied by Shizune, Oyone and Kumadori. The Preta Path was sent after the body to retrieve the chakra receivers and subsequently used it as a shield when confronted by Tsume Inuzuka and Kuromaru.
