Distance, performed by Long Shot Party, was the second opening for Naruto: Shippūden. It started from episode 31 up until episode 53. It replaced Hero's Come Back!! and it was later replaced by Blue Bird.

This song is a reference to the friendship bond between Naruto and Sasuke and the new bond with Sai.
This opening has more English lyrics than any other Naruto opening.
On Disney XD, the blood on Naruto's hand and the weapons that were held up to Sasuke's and Naruto's necks were edited.
This is the final opening to be aired in standard definition.

-[[Sasuke]] awakens his [[Sharingan]] and there's an explosion in the ground. A 13 year-old [[Naruto]] and Sasuke in [[Part I]] are shown in some grasslands with a tree, both grinning. As the smoke clears from the explosion, a silhouette of Sasuke is shown as the young Naruto and Sasuke approach each other and the logo is presented. In present day, [[Team 7|The New Team Kakashi]], some [[Konoha]] superiors, and [[Orochimaru]]'s gang are shown together starting with [[Sakura]]. [[Tsunade]] and [[Yamato]] are shown with [[Sai]] along with other clips of the groups interacting, also including [[Itachi]] with the [[Akatsuki]] on one half of the screen and Sasuke on another. Naruto begins to go crazy due to [[Kurama|The Nine Tails']] chakra, creating a huge explosion. Sakura, Sai and Yamato battle against Orochimaru and Kabuto. An injured Naruto raises his hand into the air covered in blood while a worried Sakura yells out to him before he clenches his fists. Naruto approaches Sasuke both 2 and a half years later in the same place, although with no grass and a dead leafless tree instead. In the crater of the explosion, Team 7 glares at Sasuke above them, as Naruto and Sasuke then put blades to each other's necks.
