After wrapping an opponent with sand with either Sand Binding Coffin or Sand Drizzle, Gaara will cause the sand to implode and crush whatever is within it. According to Gaara, when used to kill a person, the death is so quick that there isn't even time for the victim to feel any pain. The pressure also produces a sizeable fountain of blood. Gaara can control the pressure used in the attack, which allows him to either break bones or completely liquefy an opponent.

  • Using a pun common to Gaara and his techniques, "sand waterfall" (砂瀑, sabaku) is pronounced the same as the Japanese word for "desert" (砂漠, sabaku).
  • Nagare at some point saw Gaara use this technique and copied it, creating the Assimilation: Sand Waterfall Funeral technique.
  • Despite this technique scattering a large volume of blood, in Gaara Hiden, it was stated that this technique leaves no trace or remains of the victim's body; making it ideal for stealth-killing.
  • Damage to only an arm and a leg from this technique was so severe, that it took an extremely risky surgery from the greatest medical-nin to completely heal it.
