Naruto Uzumaki using a Clone Technique; the Shadow Clone Technique.

Clone Techniques (分身術, Bunshinjutsu) are techniques that create a copy of the user or objects used by them. The standard Clone Technique is considered the most basic of basic ninjutsu. Despite this, clone techniques are very versatile and useful, and are often used to distract or fool enemies into thinking that they have hit the user devastatingly, leaving the enemy vulnerable. Various villages have created their own characteristic forms of clone techniques.[citation needed] Besides these, there are many more clone techniques; varying in uses and skill level.[citation needed]

There are different methods of creating clones. Some commonly used clone techniques use only chakra to create the clone. Also, there are clone techniques that use a medium. These clone techniques use various elements to give the clone form and substance. There are also clone techniques that transform another person or animal into a clone of the user, like the Beast Human Clone. Finally, there are clone techniques that make use of genjutsu to create illusionary clones, like the Mist Servant Technique.[1]

Trivia

  • They are also known as Clone Ninja Techniques (分身忍術, Bunshin Ninjutsu).[citation needed]
  • Despite there being basic nature transformation clones, and even advanced nature ones, there has yet to have been a clone technique using basic Fire Release or Wind Release.
