These mysterious black rods were first seen being used by Nagato, the leader of Akatsuki. They were embedded into the bodies of his Six Paths of Pain which allowed him to manipulate their bodies by transmitting his chakra to them from the rods which had been embedded into his own body by the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path during his battle with Hanzō of the Salamander after using the Summoning: Demonic Statue of the Outer Path technique. These chakra disruption blades are the bladed versions of the chakra receivers. Nagato was able to store and extend the blades as needed from both arms of any Path, at various length. Though the blades are made from durable material, they can be broken with enough force. However, due to being made of the same material as the chakra receivers are, they are durable enough to wear down metal blades such as scalpels without any trouble. Not only that, these blades are strong enough to deflect Blaze Release: Susanoo Kagutsuchi arrows despite them being made of Amaterasu.

Nagato, due to being immobile, can fire his chakra disruption blades from his mechanical seat, which then allows him to control the victims like one of the paths due to the close proximity between each other. === Chakra Receiver Stakes ===

These stakes greatly differ in size and design. However, not unlike the other variations, the user is capable of channeling their chakra through it. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Obito Uchiha employed these against Naruto Uzumaki and Killer B. He keeps them stored in another dimension, and readily deployed them when desired. When applied with enough force, they can pierce the flesh of fully transformed tailed beasts. Also like the simpler chakra receiver, the user can channel their chakra into the stakes to manifest chakra chains, with which he is capable of binding the powers of a tailed beast.

In Naruto Shippūden: Shinobi Rumble, Pain has a technique called "Black Needle Stab", in which he simply dashes at the opponent and stabs them with the blade variant, causing their controls to become temporarily reversed; an enhanced "Full Throttle" version is also available, called "Black Needle Stab: Destructive Flash". As no specific name was given for these weapons in the manga, this may imply that they are officially known as "Black Needles".

* It has been shown that the receivers inserted in the reincarnated jinchūriki move position when they go through a transformation and get bigger. As seen with Rōshi, he transformed into Son Gokū's full form. It moved from the chest, up to its neck.

* Naruto made a similar usage to these rods when he shaped his Truth-Seeking Balls into rods and used them to immobilise Black Zetsu, preventing him from even escaping underground.

Black receivers can be created and used by those who possess the Rinnegan.[1] They act as high-frequency chakra demodulators, allowing users to transmit their chakra into these receivers and by extension those into whom the receivers have been embedded.[2] Chakra can be transmitted across vast distances, though for best results the user should be nearby and at a high elevation.[3] Black receivers disintegrate if their creator is killed or incapacitated.[4]

Origin Edit

The source and exact method of creation of black receivers is unclear, having been seen produced through various means:

Usage Edit

Disruption Blade Effect

The user, represented by disembodied Rinnegan, transmits into a target.

Users can modify black receivers' size and shape to fit the situation.[14] The most frequently seen usage has been as part of the Six Paths of Pain, where the user embeds corpses with chakra receivers in order to reanimate and take full control of the body, performing jutsu through it and allowing the user to see what the body sees.[15] These black receivers are fashioned to look like body piercings. Creatures summoned through the Animal Path also have these body piercings, suggesting a similar manner of control. The receivers used on Obito Uchiha's Six Paths of Pain double as a means of temporarily binding the tailed beasts to the bodies, granting them access to the beasts' chakra.[16]

Black receivers can be employed offensively, wielded from the hands similar to swords. By stabbing a target with these receivers the user can transmit their chakra into them, hindering their movements if pierced with only one receiver[14] and completely paralyzing them if pierced with multiple.[17] Simple contact with the receivers apparently incurs the same debilitations, an effect only other Rinnegan users are immune to.[18] If a user is able to create a strong enough transmission into a target then they can control the target's movements.[19] This all can run a risk to the user if they are using the Six Paths of Pain, as sensors can trace the black receivers they have been pierced with back to the user.[20]

Chakra Receiver stakes

Chains emanating from black receivers.

Obito is shown employing black receivers as projectiles, ejecting them from Kamui's dimension to pierce and pin targets.[21] He can then transmit the Demonic Statue Chains into the receivers, strengthening the binding.[22]
