My problem is that even if we add a new syop who are the current candidates? We have a much smaller pool than we did a year ago because of people leaving or regulating themselves to lurker status(like me) causing their page and forum posts to overshadow their article contributions. While my word and opinion means very little on here anymore(as if it ever did) there are some out of the current eligible pool who I vehemently protest in getting any new authoritative powers for various reasons(including personal).
Now as for users leaving left and right, it is a sad fact that those left are becoming less and less able to discuss a issue without feeling pissed on. Examples: The Gaara/Magnet release issue, Kaguya/TSB, and so on. It used to be in the past that we argue and debate to our hearts content but sill came together for a issue and if Kishi ignored explaining any further we came up with a compromise. Example: Lava Release, Storm, Blaze, Tsunade's presumed Lightning release. Its is like we have grown tired of each other.
The problem with giving someone the syop status is that there is no guarantee they won't use the status to go after their "political" rivals in various means.
I suggest we look at whatever broad problems we are facing as a wiki and try to actually resolve them beyond giving another person the baton. That is one reason we have the forums, to discuss issues facing us today. Example: Users generally agreeing to wait until the official release of Storm Revolution before making new articles and such despite the leak.
The real problem is that people are too scared of being wrong.
Um, I'm kind of new and all, but I hope I can help. I agree with Umishiru.
On the problems of the new crat, how about we wait till the manga/anime/whatever ends, and then decide? That way everything can be organized and properly settled, and then if need be, we add another bureaucrat. That's my suggestion.
If need be right now, then we face another problem of the whole biased thing.
I suggest we have a test period of time for the new bureaucrat (maybe 2 weeks?) and see if he/she/it is being unbiased or not. We hold another vote at the time limit. If people still agree, the bureaucrat is kept. If not, then he/she/it will not keep his/her/its status.
Biased or not, I think people are in the wiki not out of spite or anything, so at the second vote, if the bureaucrat really is good or bad, then the votes will tell the answer.
Finally, if we should even have a new bureaucrat: I think it should happen, but that we should wait until the series ends. There's only like 10 chapters left, and then hopefully the dust will settle. If it has to be now, how about we conduct a formal vote of whether we should even have a beaurocrat, and then another vote as to who it will be?
If we do hold a vote, and two users do some sort of talk page battle, then both users are automatically banned. I think that's a good way to remain unbiased.
And, if I really don't know what I'm talking about, then sorry for wasting time/forum space.
