Hi
Recently, I contacted a couple of sysops and asked if it was possible to add the custodian flag to my account (you can check Dantman's and Snapper's talkpages for more information about that). However, I noticed that there is no such flag on this wiki and that it needs to be manually added by Wiki Staff members.
I've already emailed Dantman about this, but I think it would be a good idea to get a community consensus on the idea of creating a custodian flag. The rights that this usergroup would have are:
- Have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol)
- Mark others' edits as patrolled (patrol)
- Move files (movefile)
- Not create redirects from source pages when moving pages (suppressredirect)
- Add group: custodian
Apart from the last right, the others were based on those used on TES Wiki, where this flag apparently exists.
The point of this flag is to give certain users the ability to suppress redirects when they move articles or images to new names. A common problem is that users move files to new names, but then have to spend time tagging the old filename for deletion, which can take time.
Since this flag would add very little to a user's abilities, only a few people really need this ability, hence the thread.
Please discuss below whether this is suitable. Of course:
