I know this series has its flaws and all, but few other shows can make me feel this excited and emotional so for me 9/10.

5 of 10, average.
The best parts were sensational and the worst were unwatchable. Everything else was middle of the road.
Too many characters, no sense of community even inside the Leaf Village. The average characters knew nothing about other clans inside the Leaf or the background of other ninja in the village.
Gossip and legends alone should have told people all they needed to know about guys like Kakashi (including his dad and his old teammates from childhood), Sasuke and his line of ancestors, Naruto and his elite parentage, Kabuto and his unusual background or other ninja in the village before they were even done at the Academy.
Instead you have people at the Exams basically going "Whoa! Whose this dude with the bugs in his body?" who by the way had been living right under their noses in Konoha with an extended family who also had bugs living in their body for generations.
Unless they ended up on missions together, the whole village was full of people who knew squat about each other apparently.
Seelentau wrote: That's not entirely true, Elve. We fans expected a normal shonen manga and Kishimoto underdelivered. Naruto is below mediocre. Even Fairy Tail has better story telling and continuity even though it greatly lives off of fanservice.
How is Fairy tail any better? At least, Naruto didn't friendship-one-shot a God...
I liked it, 7/10. Good character development for Naruto, he went from wanting to be Hokage so he could be acknowledged to wanting to be Hokage to protect his friends. Emotional points were good, and had cool characters, very diverse. I enjoyed it. Too many flashbacks, ending was kind of lackluster for me, and lots of inconsistencies, but oh well. For building such a big world, it was pretty good.
I'd give it a 5-6. Mostly for world-building and a variety in characters, as well as some story moments. I respect Kishimoto for remaining so productive during all these years, but of course, he didn't and/or couldn't think everything through deeply enough. Us fans often dig deeper than the creators do (though it might be quite interesting sometimes). In fact, I still stick to some of my headcanons regarding the origins and workings of chakra. I don't like blaming Kishimoto for creating his world like that, even if not everything in it seems consistent to me. I have my own fictional universe that I create rules for, and naturally if I published my stories set within it, people would find flaws and inconsistencies within it too.
My main complain about Naruto in general would be the prophecy and transmigrations playing such a big part. You know, the thing that lead to Naruto being called NaruJesus, and the very literal application of Ninshuu. It was all just too blunt.
That said, I don't even read many Shounen manga series, and Naruto was the only long-running one to keep my interest. One of the reasons is likely the artwork.
Seelentau wrote: As for why the Naruto manga is bad you just need to compare it to One Piece. It's like night and day, One Piece has everything Naruto lacks and more. It has consistency, it has character depth and development, it has a story that's thought through from its beginning to its end, hell, even its timeline is worked out. Naruto has no consistency (from a Ninja manga to some superpower alien shit), 90% of the characters are underdeveloped (Itachi being one of the only ones who get an actual development), the story isn't thought through ("hurrdurr, how do you beat Madara, I dunno even though I'm the creator") and I don't have to explain how fucked up Naruto's timeline is, right?
Basically, compared to fast food, Naruto would be McDonald's and One Piece would be Subway. You can like McD more, but it's more than obvious that it's not as high quality as Subway.
i dont think that i could add anything to this post ^_^ while i still like the powers used in the manga everything else is exactly as seelentau said ^_^
7/10 - i can't give rest 3 points because of Author's negligence to his own lore and his carefree attitude to SP's clusterfuck on said lore.
I have seen a lot of manga in my years so far. In 20 years there is a lot of it. Some are good some are bad. Each has its own taste. Some like shounen some like seinen etc.
My point is, that some of the readers will prefer this and others that. Naruto would be like "Swedish house mafia"...Not that quality, but something which moves the readers, something that inspires, something that takes place and people remember it. There is no point in denying that you guys wont read it again, some of the most fantastic arcs, you are gonna read it again. Maybe not today but in 3 years time, and you can give it 1/10. Each has own taste, me for example, i dont like OP draw style, thus i have never watched nor read OP. And based on that i wont give it less points than it deserves. I dont really care if it is better than FT or Naruto or Bleach. If OP is good then it deserves high points, if it is bad then low points. Only 2 things works for me, art and wheter story interests me. Bleach, FT, NAruto does. And each has enough flaws. NAruto left me with more questions than answers, Bleach main theme, i kinda lost it after Aizen got defeated, FT excites me, although can be fanserviced, who cares. I dont.
I like Magi, million other grotesque, seinen, bloody, shounen manga, but NAruto interested and excited me. Thus i give it 7/10. There wasnt an arc which I was not interested in-
I am Between either 8/10 or 8.5/10 , can´t decide yet.
