As I'm sure some of you have come across at least once, some of the Versus battles that have been posted during this forum's existence have been illogical, impossible, incapable of being properly answered, or something of that sort.
For example (pulled these off the top of my head, not using specific examples), we can't completely answer the question of "Asura vs. _____" or "_____ vs. Sakumo Hatake" because we know little to nothing about their abilities. Then there's some really outlandish ones, like "Double Rinnegan Obito vs. Edo Tensei Hamura" that people literally just make up. And then there's the plain stupid, like "Jiraiya's left arm vs. the boulder that crushed Obito".
Anyway, what I'm trying to get to is; should we install some basic regulations that all Versus battles should adhere to?
The set I usually use in the threads I start are along the lines of:
- Opponents have no prior knowledge of each other's abilities.
- No databook stats. Actual feats or substantiated speculation (be able to back up any claims) only.
- No cop-outs/oneshots.
And any specific abilities/time periods that pertain to the individuals.
On a slightly separate note, should we make users aware of the poll feature that they can implement in these threads? People can just drop a vote if they don't feel like typing out a novel at the moment.
