This technique shapes the inextinguishable black flames of Amaterasu of the Mangekyō Sharingan into spikes that not only shield the user but also burn and pierce the opponent if they touch them. This technique seems to be controlled by Sasuke's right eye, unlike his Amaterasu, as he was covering his left when using it.[1]

Kagutsuchi is the God of Fire in Shinto and the one who brought death into the world by burning his mother, Izanami, to death as she gave birth to him. This made his father, Izanagi, kill him with the Totsuka sword.
