Synopsis
Pain begins his invasion on Konohagakure. The Asura Path, Animal Path, and the Preta Path make up the Diversion team while the Naraka Path, Deva Path and Human Path together with Konan are assigned to the Search team. Upon closer inspection with his Rinnegan, Pain discovers that a barrier is surrounding Konoha from every angle, making it impossible to enter without being detected. The Asura Path proceeds to throw the Animal Path through the barrier who then proceeds to summon the rest of the invading party after breaching the barrier. This manages to fool the barrier team into expecting only one intruder. Meanwhile Inoichi searches through Yūdachi's mind; a ninja captured by Jiraiya. Shizune and her team that are autopsying the body of the first Animal Path discovers that the piercings in the Animal Path's body were chakra receivers. Sakura and Shikamaru continued deciphering the message that Jiraiya left them when they noticed a big explosion and set out to investigate. Other ninja also notice the explosion and begin taking action. Sakura encountered a Giant Centipede summoned earlier by the Animal Path and defeated it with a single blow. She was then tasked by Iruka to go to the hospital and tend the wounded. Meanwhile, Ino heads to the Intel Division to tell her father what was happening to Konoha while Chōji went to his father. Meanwhile, at the Hokage's mansion, Tsunade is briefed on the situation by a member of the Barrier corps and also from an ANBU saying that the enemy strength is estimated as approximately three battalions. She's also informed from a witness that it is the Akatsuki that is attacking. She then declares a State of Emergency and orders for Naruto to be brought back.
